Wedding Photography at Chelsea Town Hall

Maha and David called me at the last minute because Chelsea Town Hall had managed to move their wedding date forward a few weeks, and it all worked with their London visit from Jordan and Dubai. A few close firends attended the ceremony and then we all had a mosey down the Kings Road to Bluebird for champagne and canapes. The perfect, low-key, city wedding in my opinion!

Hindu wedding blessing photography

Sha and Simon had a Hindu wedding blessing a couple of weeks after their Jewish wedding ceremony at Premier House Banqueting in Northwest London. It was a relaxed affair with lots of dancing and yummy, yummy food.

One of my favourite shots of the night was Sha's sweet grandfather looking like he was enjoying the evening as much as she was!

Female Wedding Photographer at Jumeriah Calrton Tower

Shehla and Tansel has part two of their wedding at the gorgeous Jumeriah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge. They wanted to have a mix of their heritage, Islamic Asian and Turkish, so the music and decorations reflected this in great fusion style.

Shehla looked amazing in her dress which had so many gems that it weighed more than she did! Although it was extremely heavy, I think everyone would agreee that she looked stunning and it was all worth the effort!

On of my other favourite details of the day was their 7-tier cake which was carrot cake and perhaps the best I've ever had!!!

Jewish Wedding Photography for Sha & Simon

I met Sha and Simon almost a year before their wedding, and when I first heard of a Jewish wedding with a mix of Shahnaz's Asian culture, I knew it was going to be a unique experience. Since I had done both Jewish wedding photography as well as Asian, it was a new epxerience which I really looked forward to all year.

The big day did not disappoint with a stunning Jewish ceremony and dancing galore. The clear emphasis was on family and friends, and it became clear these two are very blessed to have large, close families and a fabulous bunch of friend who all participated in the planning and details of the very special day!

Family and Baby Photography in Hampstead Heath

I met Elizabeth and baby Serina in Febuary during the fabulous Pushy Mothers buggy class I did with my newborn son on Hampstead Heath (which by the way, I cannot recommend highly enough). Serina was Elizabeth's fourth baby and her fourth round of Pushy Mothers, probably one of the reasons she looks so good. She mentioned how hard it is to get a photograph of the whole family, so we met early Sunday morning last week. These are just a few of my favourite photos of her beautiful family!

Wedding Photography at Warwick Castle for Shehla & Tansel

Ok, so I am a little late on blogging this amazing wedding- truly one of the highlights of the summer, but I do belive that all good things come to those who wait.

Shehla and Tansel approached me about their wedding as I have photographed weddings for two of Shehla's cousins. I jumped at the chance to spend yet another set of celebrations with the Awan's, Gilani's and Khans! Plus, Tansel's family is Turkish, and I immediately was charmed by his mum at our initial meeting, so I knew that a Pakistani and Turkish wedding couldn't be anything but a great mix of tradition, style and fun. The civil ceremony was at the beautiful Warwick Castle, Shehla looking absolutely beautiful, and there was a summer's evening to remember!

With a great East meets West theme, there were colourful flowers and dresses with peacocks and Bollywood decorations, and a great sunny, English garden for their guests to relax, laugh and have a great party! Baby, I'm back

So I am back! After 9 1/2 glorious mummy months since last August (ok, so I did sneak in a few weddings along the way), I am photographing again and getting back into the full swing of things in time for the 2011 summer wedding season. I have some gorgeous weddings coming up – Warwick Castle, Jumeriah Carlton Towers, Petworth, here I come. I think I deserve a round of applause!

Oh baby - where have I been???

Just in case anyone has been wondering where I have been and why no wedding blogs since July, I had a gorgeous baby boy on the 9th of August after shooting weddings through to the 8th of July!

Baby has kept me very busy, and mum has only done two weddings since his birth which will be posted shortly.

The bookings for 2011 are filling up with just a few spring and summer dates still available, so I look forward to hearing from you!

Civil Partnership Photography for Martin and Mark at the National Theatre

Martin's and Mark's civil partnership on the 19th of June was at the fabulous venue of the National Theatre rooftop deck. The day was marked not only by a simple but lovely ceremony between the boys, but also 6 excellent and hilarious speeches, and it was clear that Martin and Mark have amazing families and a huge set of fabulous friends!

Becky and Andy were married at lovely Pembroke Lodge in Richmind Park - one of my favourite places to photograph- on the 20th of March. Their gorgeous little boy, Reuben, was a star guest, and despite threats of pouring rain, we did manage to quickly go out for some photographs in fron of the camellia's which were in full bloom.

Winter Wedding Photography for Tracey and Colin

Your London Wedding Magazine features ktb wedding photography

I have had the recent honour of having a wedding I photographed for the lovely Shilpa and Brendan at the Old Royal Naval College and the Amadeus Centre in Maida Vale not only featured but on the cover of the magazine Your London Wedding .

This was one of my very favourite weddings of the year, although you might find I say that about all of the weddings I have the honour of photographing! Shilpa and Brendan were a complete delight, and we have become fast friends since their May wedding.

I loved how the couple trusted me when I said that we didn't need more than a brightly coloured door for amazing photographs because my photos are about the couple and their happiness, not about some background.

The happiness of Kristina and Ricky really shines through, and the great night atmosphere of Islington goes to show that you don't need sunshine and parks for stunning photographs! Top Ten Simple Steps for Natural and Beautiful Wedding Photography

I thought I would do something different for this blog entry to promote my new service fo photography lessons which I am offering in 2010 private photography lessons.

Here are my top ten professional tips to take your photography to another level!

1. Try shooting with available light (i.e. without flash). This achieves a few goals, as skin tones will look less shiny and the camera will expose for the whole room, so you will avoid a black hole and deer in headlights. You will also capture a more real colour and light in your image without flash.

2. Watch your shutter speed to keep your photos sharp. This is usually about the inverse of your focal length. For example, if you are shooting at about 60mm on your zoom lens, then your shutter speed should be 1/60th.

3. If you can't get a fast enough shutter speed, use a cheat's tripod. Prop your elbows on a chair/table/the floor to get about 2 more stops of light and keep your photograph sharp. You can also lean against a wall to stabilize your camera.

4. Try using prime lenses. Shoot wide open for a pin sharp subject and lovely soft background which gives that really "professional" you just cannot get from a point and shoot camera. If you don't have primes lenses, then zoom all the way in on your subject and then step farther back. It will give a similar small depth of field effect to a wide open prime.

5. Make your subjects comfortable. Smile, crack jokes, tell them they look beautiful, throw a teddy bear at them....anything to make them laugh and have fun so they look natural and gorgeous. If they are really uncomfortable, tell them to walk away and then towards the camera just having a chat with each other and photograph that.

6. Look for frames, screens and reflections. Anything from doorways, arches, flowers, trees, mirrors and puddles make great frames and reflections for your subject and give a more professional feeling. Think creatively and don't be afraid to take risks.

7. Be creative with lighting. Look for silhouettes in front of windows or the sunset. Shoot into the light for contra-jour and capturing flare. Play with your exposure and see what happens.

8. Look for unexpected angles and perspectives. Climb stairs or lie on the ground. Use the couple as a frame for their wedding and shoot from behind focusing on the room. Never stop looking for new perspectives.

9. Story-tell using the weather. If it is super sunny, shoot from down low to capture a blue sky. If it is raining, shoot through droplets and umbrellas. If there are dramatic clouds, underexpose them to give a moody feel.

10. Try some photographs where your subject isn't looking at the camera. Have the couple chat, laugh, or cuddle, and tell them to pretend you're not even there for some lovely and photojournalistic feeling photographs.

Wedding Photography for Nemeeta and Biren

Nemeeta and Biren were married on the 24th of October at Brent Town Hall in a civil ceremony followed by an Indian style wedding reception in North London. All their friends and family joined them and celebrated the special day, and in true Patel style - there was loads and loads of dancing!

Civil Partnership Photography for Tony & John

Tony planned the amazing civil partnership ceremony and party for his partner, John, and himself as a great surprise. Although John knew they were getting married (obviously!), he didn't know any of the details of the day which included Tony donning a matching kilt in honour of Scottish John.

The couple live in Jersey and flew in with their 30 close friends for a brilliant weekend at the Hempel Hotel. Tony had strong feelings on what he wanted from his photographs, as he is a professional wedding photographer himself Ivory Pictures and had several of his professional photographer friends armed with cameras on the day- so no pressure on me!

Tony and John were delighted with their photos and have even written to me about their photos, "We are lost for words - we love them - you have exceeded personal expectations, and that doesn't happen very often and your caught exactly what I was after!"

Thanks guys, for a fantastic day and being amazing clients!

Sikh Ceremonies for Tina's Wedding

Tina's chuni and vatna ceremonies (the Sikh tradition of applying tumeric and then a veil to the bride in prepatation for her wedding) were held in Windsor. The house was decorated beautifully, and all of her aunties and uncles came and enjoyed a brilliant day the garden marquee!

Tina was already going to be a beautiful bride, but she did seem to be glowing even more with after being coated in tumeric and showered with love!

Wedding Photography for Kerry & Nigel

Kerry & Nigel had a beautiful autumnal wedding complete with wind, sun, rain, warm and cold all in the same day. Their family and friends were hugely important to them, so they wanted lots of natural wedding photographs of the events of the day and people just having a good time- which you can see they did! This wedding was an absolute delight to photograph- definitely worth leaving London for Buckingham shire for!

Wedding Reception of Maia and Ali in Notting Hill

Maia and Ali were married in a civil ceremony in the spring, so their London wedding reception was special evening for their families from Jordan and Lebanon to come and celebrate with them. There was a real party atmosphere with live Arabic music followed by a disco with lots and lots of dancing!

It was a really amazing evening, and the fun really shines through in the photographs!

East London Hindu Wedding of Rina & Jay

Lovely Rina and Jay were an extra special couple to me, not the least as Jay is ktb's second photographer's cousin. I knew I wanted to do an extra special job for all the fantastic Patels (and I am including Rina as a new Patel!)

The Hindu wedding was on a bright sunny day in East London, and then the lucky couple headed off to the Maldives for two weeks where they had their civil ceremony.

The wedding was quite interesting for me as it was one of the first which was not in English, so I was lucky to know the Indian wedding ceremony inside and out!

Lots of love to the clearly happy couple!

Wedding Photographs from Hampton Court Palace

Well, the wedding season has kept me completely busy, and I am only just catching up on my blogs from all the summer weddings I did!

Samra and Shahzeb had an absolutely beautiful wedding at Hampton Court Palace on the 4th of July, and I had a full hour to capture some amazing portraits of the happy couple on the grounds of the Palace. We go around by golf buggy, driven by the lovely wedding coordinator, Charlotte, so as you can see we really covered some ground!

Samra and Shahzeb were featured for a new Asian wedding magazine, and I should shortly have a copy of that article on the blog.

Wedding of Shreena & Rishi at the Cavendish

Shreena and Rishi had a brilliant 2 day wedding with the civil ceremony, chanla matli and reception on the 24th of July at the Cavendish
and Premier House Banqueting all their families, many of whom travlled from Kenya, to celebrate the day with Shreena and Rishi, and I have never been to a wedding where guests and couple danced quite so much or quite so enthusiastically!

A 19th century Welsh Presbyterian chapel which can be hired for events, it architecturally beautiful and can be dramatically lit for a lavish evening reception! Shilpa and Brendan had the best weather for their amazing civil ceremony at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. Shilpa is Indian, Brendan from Trinidad, and they both live in London, so there was a real fusion of cultures!

They were so relaxed and happy, and I absolutely loved photographing their wedding, family and friends!

Pre-Wedding photographs for Hazel and Mark

Bhalinder & Guillaume's Beautiful Wedding in Datchet

Bhalinder called me as I had photographed her friend's, Su's, wedding a couple of years ago, so I was thrilled to photograph this groups of friends and family at another wedding!

Bhalinder's side is Indian, and Guillaume's French, so they decided on a elegant civil ceremony in a boutique hotel near Windsor followed by drinks, canapes, Asian food for dinner and lots of dancing!

It was a really emotional and happy day, and I can tell these two are perfect for each other!

I had the great privilege of photographing for the opening night of a brilliant exhibition of the amazing photographs of Elsbeth Juda from 1940-1965 which include some of the seminal characters of contemporary Britain.

Elsbeth was full of life, and her photographs are on exhibtion until 8 May 2009 at L’Equipement des Arts, 19 New Quebec Street.

I had the honour of photographing Huma's and Faaris' wedding at Notley Abbey in Oxfordshire on the 29th of March 2009. The weather started out a bit ominous in the morning, but then became a lovely warm spring day for the an amazing English wedding. Every detail was perfect and reflected the couple's gorgeous taste! I think the passion and love Huma and Faaris have for each other really shines through in life and in their photos.

You might recognize Dr. Kyi from my main wedding website! I photographed Chaw Su's and Jules' wedding at Hampton Court Palace a couple of years ago.

Recently Chaw Su, shortlisted for the Best Practice in London, Best Young Dentist in London and UK Outstanding Achievement Awards, has opened her own fantastic orthodontics clinic in Hammersmith, the West London Centre of Orthodontics.

Ktb has photographed WeLCOme as well as photographing the regular open nights which WeLCOme hosts with hair and makeup makeovers and before and after portraits. Everyone had a great time looked fabulous. Also, I couldn't help but photograph Chaw Su and Jules again, as they expecting their first baby! Congratulations!

civil partnership of Gavan & Scott

Gavan and Scott celebrated their civil partnership on the 20th of December at the Royal Society of Arts with a decidedly Christmas theme!

The RSA's Vaults were decorated with Christmas trees galore, there was a Dickensian Room with traditional carollers and a Winter Wonderland with a living Icemaiden Statue and a photobooth for their lucky wedding guests!

My great friend and fellow photographer, Julie Kim, manned the photobooth, and this was one of our favourite weddings!

Hemini and Lee married in a gorgeous Hindu ceremony at the VIP Lounge http://www.theviplounge.com/ on the 8th of November. The decorative red lights, crackling fire and warm family helped make the evening cosy and relaxed despite some pretty serious winter weather outdoors! We quickly ran out for a few minutes during the reception for some "outdoor" photographs despite the rain in the covered car park, proving one of my favourite sayings of Pissaro - "Happy are those who see beauty in the modest spots where others see nothing. Everything is beautiful, the whole secret lies in knowing how to interpret." I wish Hemini and Lee a life filled with beauty! Congratulations to you both!

July has been a wonderfully busy month, and I haven't had a chance to upload my favourite photographs until now!

In June and July I had the honour of photographing several days of celebrations of Dimpy and Kiran's wedding. Their civil ceremony was great fun in Watford followed by a summer's lunch at the Hare Krishna Temple at Bhaktivedanta Manor. My sister, Gina, who is also a talented photographer, assisted me on the day, so it was a really amazing day for all! Watch this space for more great photographs of the happy couple!

wedding photography - The Golden Wedding

I had the recent honour of photographing Nabeela and Pervaise's wedding at the Naval College in Greenwich. It was an amazing day with everything from blue skies to snow. Sir Christopher Wren's 17th century masterpiece, also used in the film the Golden Compass, was truly a fabulous setting, and a wonderful time was had by all 350 guests! It has been a gorgeous autumn and some very lucky couples have enjoyed beautiful weddings with coloured leaves and great weather! I have also had a commercial shoot for new shop Rotterdam Oranje bv in New Covent Garden. Keep it in mind you early birds if you want the best fruit and veg available in London!

10 September Weddings!

We have finally finished all the photographs for the ten weddings booked with ktb wedding photography in September.

It was an amazing month which included couples from England, Ireland, South Africa, Poland, America, China and Nepal!

The ceremonies were also varied and included everything from a classic affair at Westminster Register, several at elegant London hotels, a Hindu ceremony in Richmond Park, a civil partnership and a Celtic ceremony on a cliffside fort on Inis Mor, Ireland.

I have posted just a few images from the amazing ceremonies we covered. Congratulations to you all - I hope this is the beginning of all good things to come!!!
